Our Series 2 electrics were launched in early 2012. Though prototypes of Series 2 guitars have been kicking around for several years (and were occasionally offered as one-off instruments) 2012 seemed the perfect time to put the custom models into a limited production, what with the end of the world upon us. So grab one now, play the hell out of it and, if the sun rises on December 22nd, slap a sticker on it reading "This guitar survived the apocalypse"...and then play it some more.
Series 2 instruments pay homage to the bolt-on neck construction of yesteryear. Those instruments were, in numerous respects, the embodiment of Americana at its finest, and we have always held those American-made instruments -- the granddaddies of them all -- in abnormally high regard. With our Series 2 guitars, we harken back to the golden age of American ingenuity in a humble attempt to pay tribute to the instruments that helped shape and define American music.
But we've never been known for churning out one-trick ponies, and we don't intend to start at this all-important juncture. And so you shall find that our Series 2 guitars and basses, for all their nods to America's illustrious past, are truly cutting edge instruments. Every guitar has hand-shaped frets with custom profiles. Every piece of hardware -- every single one -- is manufactured here in the great United States of America. And every neck is profiled by hand with traditional handtools, resulting in entirely unique instruments. No two are alike. Sure, we all like the consistency that comes with CNC-equipped factories, but mass-manufactured instruments tend to lack a personal touch, a unique quality, that can only be had in a hand-crafted work of art.
If you've tried the rest and are ready for something entirely different, you're ready for a Gatcomb. And a Series 2 instrument is a fitting introduction to not only our products, but our way of life.
